Nadler Congratulates Rabbi Yitzchok “Jules” Fleischer

Community Leader is Appointed to Commission for the Preservation of America's Heritage Abroad

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Jerrold Nadler (NY-08) today congratulated Rabbi Yitzchok “Jules” Fleischer on his appointment to the United States Commission for the Preservation of America's Heritage Abroad.  The Commission, an independent government agency, works to protect and preserve cemeteries, monuments and historic buildings in Central and Eastern Europe that are linked to the heritage of American citizens.

Several members of the Commission are nominated at the suggestion at the Speaker of the House of Representatives.  Rep. Nadler had asked Speaker Pelosi to nominate Rabbi Fleisher in recognition of his long standing contributions to his community.

“Rabbi Fleischer embodies the values of the Commission,” said Rep. Nadler.  “He most notably possesses the qualities and skills necessary to the Commission's important work.  He will be a tireless advocate in identifying and promoting the preservation of significant sites in Europe that are invaluable to the Commission.”

Fleisher is a noted community leader from the Hasidic Jewish Community in Boro Park, Brooklyn, and a prominent member of the Bobover Hasidic dynasty.  He serves on numerous boards of many not-for-profits in Boro Park and devotes much of his time to helping others who are less fortunate in his community.  In particular he has worked to provide for the well being of many Holocaust survivors whose needs are becoming greater in the twilight of their life.
