Nadler: Bill Has $231,000 for Brooklyn Youth Business Career Development

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Jerrold Nadler (NY-08), who represents parts of Manhattan and Brooklyn, hailed the passage of the Financial Services and General Government Appropriations bill. That measure, adopted last week, includes $231,000 for a new youth business career development project to be run by the Brooklyn-based Sephardic Angel Fund. The spending bill must still be reconciled with the Senate before heading to the President for his signature.

Rep. Nadler worked to secure the funding along with Rep. Anthony Weiner (NY-09). The funds will help the organization to run classes in financial literacy, career development workshops, career guidance sessions, summer internships working in local businesses and the publication of a teen run community newspaper called the Teen Angel News.

"Too many youth lack the skills they need to understand basic financial literacy," said Rep. Nadler. "By supporting the efforts of the Sephardic Angel Fund and similar groups, we can better equip the young adults of today to be financially literate and responsible in the future."
