Nadler Brings $53 Million in Transportation Funding to New York

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Representative Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) today successfully secured $53 million in transportation funds for New York City to the Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (TEA-LU), the legislation that authorizes federal transportation programs.  The funding will go toward transportation projects in New York City, including road improvements and critical other projects that will strengthen and expand different modes of transportation for New Yorkers.

“The funding in this bill will allow us to move forward on a wide range of critical transportation and infrastructure projects,” Congressman Nadler said.  “From parks to sidewalks to transportation hubs, we will continue our focus on improving safety, efficiency, and quality of life in the district.”

The version of the TEA-LU bill passed today includes only district projects.  Large-scale highway and rail projects will be included in the bill as the legislation moves toward final passage.

District projects included in the bill:

·         Hudson River Park: $7 million

·         Coney Island Boardwalk: $3.2 million

·         High Line Project: $5 million

·         Governors Island: $4 million

·         New York Water Taxi Docks: $4 million

·         Battery Park City Bikeway: $2 million

·         Times & Duffy Square Improvements: $4 million

·         Coney Island Intermodal Improvements: $4 million

·         Passenger Ship Terminal Access: $4 million

·         Lincoln Center Area Improvements: $5 million

·         West 79th Street Rotunda: $2 million

·         Safe Routes to Schools Projects: $3.5 million

·         Study of Goods Movement along I-278: $1.5 million

·         Pratt Institute Transportation Planning: $1.5 million

·         Public Awareness Program about infrastructure in Lower Manhattan: $500,000

·         Brooklyn Children's Museum: $300,000

·         East River Park Waterfront near Brooklyn Bridge: $1.5 million
