Payne Announces Grant for University Science Park | |||
Washington, D.C. – United States Congressman Donald M. Payne today announced that the US Department of Commerce has awarded $1.5 million to University Science Park in Newark, NJ. University Science Park is a joint venture between Newark’s higher education institutions, the City and Community of Newark, and the private sector. Designed to use university science and technology research as a vehicle for urban and regional economic and community development, Science Park will provide the community with thousands of jobs and millions of dollars in tax revenue. The awarded grant will be used for the building of the park’s infrastructure. “University Science Park has been a great asset to Newark and its surrounding communities,” Payne said. Its mission has been to improve the quality of life for the area’s residents through employment, educational, housing and business opportunities. I’m glad that Science Park will be able to continue its important work.” |
