BOYD ANNOUNCES 2006 MILITARY ACADEMY APPOINTMENTS

 

WASHINGTON, D.C.-Congressman Allen Boyd (D-North Florida) today announced that 10 students in the 2nd Congressional District have been appointed to the country's military academies for the class of 2010. 

"I was pleased to nominate these terrific young people in their quest to serve our country," said Congressman Boyd.  "They have demonstrated both excellence in academics and exemplary character, and I am extremely proud of all of them.  I wish them well in their studies and future service to our great country."

Below is the list of appointees from the 2nd Congressional District:

U.S. Air Force Academy

  • Joseph Gregory Brundidge of Admiral Arthur W. Radford High School
    (Permanent address in Panama City)
    Parents:  Col. Greg and Diane Brundidge
  • Quinn Darius Evans of Rutherford High School and Air Force Prep
    Parents:  Dana and Sonya Evans
  • Kelly Lynn Schuetz of Lawton Chiles High School
    Parents:  Joe and Rita Schuetz
  • Harrison Hayes Whiting, IV of Niceville High School
    Parents:  Harrison and Jackie Whiting

U.S. Merchant Marine Academy

  • Joshua Michael Davis of Rutherford High School
    Parents:  David and Jo Ann Davis

U.S. Military Academy - West Point

  • Douglas Ashton Cooksey, Jr. of Lawton Chiles High School
    Parents:  Doug and Barbie Cooksey
  • Christopher Sean Land of Rutherford High School
    Parents:  Edward and Donna Land
  • Amelia Agesen Storey of Lincoln High School
    Parents:  Mark and Doris Storey

U.S. Naval Academy

  • Robert L. Harned, Jr. of Bay High School and Naval Academy Prep
    Parents:  Robert and Brenda Harned
  • Emily Virginia McCroan of Lawton Chiles High School
    Parents:  Jim and Joellen McCroan

Each student received a nomination from Congressman Boyd after they completed the application process and interviewed with a local nomination selection committee.  Appointees will report to their respective academy starting on June 26.
