BOYD ANNOUNCES 2007 MILITARY ACADEMY APPOINTMENTS

     

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congressman Allen Boyd (D-North Florida) today announced that nine students in the 2nd Congressional District have been appointed to the nation’s military academies for the class of 2011. 

“I am so proud to have nominated each of these outstanding students to serve our nation in the various military academies,” said Congressman Boyd.  “These young people certainly are the cream of the crop.  They have demonstrated both excellence in academics and exemplary character.  I am honored to nominate these young men and women, and I wish them well in their studies and future service to our great country.”

Below is the list of appointees from the 2nd Congressional District:

U.S. Air Force Academy

  • Christin Stacy Burrows of Lincoln High School in Tallahassee
    Parents:  Dwight Burrows and Jannette Corkery
  • Alexander R. Hess of Rutherford High School in Panama City
    Parents:  Derek and Barbara Hess
  • Brandon Hough of Rutherford High School in Panama City
    Parents:  Paul Hough and Sandra Junn
  • Geoffrey Michael Simkin of Niceville High School in Niceville
    Parents: Ronald and Deborah Simkin

U.S. Merchant Marine Academy

  • John Robert Campbell of A. Crawford Mosley High School in Panama City
    Parents:  Glenn and Charla Campbell

U.S. Military Academy – West Point

  • Douglas Ashton CoZachary Emanuel Joanos of Amos P. Godby High School  in Tallahassee
    Parents:  Manny and Laura Joanos
  • Ken Michael Alan Woods of Suwannee High School in Live Oak
    Parents:  Jeffrey Woods and Maria-Divina Woods

U.S. Naval Academy

  • John Lawrence Ingle of Leon High School in Tallahassee
    Parents:  Allison and Donna Ingle
  • James Patrick McGlynn of John Paul II Catholic High School in Tallahassee
    Parents:  Kevin and Ann McGlynn

Each student received a nomination from Congressman Boyd after they completed the application process and interviewed with a local nomination selection committee.  Appointees will report to their respective academy at the end of the month.
