WASHINGTON, D.C. - United State Forest Service (USFS) Regional Forester Tom Tidwell today agreed to Montana Congressman Denny Rehberg’s request for an extension of the public comment period on the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest management plan.
“It’s nice to see the Forest Service stepped up and answered the call for responsible government,” said Rehberg, a member of the House Appropriations Committee. “This extension will allow Montanans to provide sufficient input on how this area should be managed for the next 20 years. “
In a letter sent last week, Rehberg requested an extension to the current comment period, which ended March 31st. Today, USFS informed Rehberg that they would agree to a 30-day extension.
“We asked and the Administration listened,” said Rehberg. “Extending the public comment period is a sensible step, now it’s up to the Forest Service to take all the comments seriously and keep them in mind when developing a plan.”
