Internships are available in both our Washington and District offices throughout the fall, spring, or summer semesters. Although the majority of internships are unpaid, students gain invaluable work experience.
Interns have a variety of work opportunities, including research projects, drafting of correspondence, and coordination with other congressional offices. Administrative duties are an essential part of an intern's duties. Answering telephones, opening and distributing mail, and filing are among the typical tasks assigned. Washington interns have the advantage of observing first-hand the workings of Congress and learning more about the legislative process from the inside, while District interns have the opportunity of interacting with the Congressman and his constituents and participating in special projects in the district. Each location offers its own unique educational experience.
