Washington, DC - Congressman Gene Green (D-Houston) expressed his support and respect for teachers and the teaching profession during National Teacher Day and Teacher Appreciation Week.  Rep. Green had the opportunity to recognize and present a plaque to an outstanding teacher, Ms. Billie Briggs, from the Cobb 6th Grade Campus of Galena Park Independent School District.  Ms. Briggs was honored by the Milken Family Foundation at the Foundation’s 2003 National Educator Awards Ceremony on May 4th.

 

     “Over the years, I have had the opportunity to meet many teachers like Ms. Briggs who go above and beyond the call of duty time after time to help their students learn and be successful,” said Rep. Green. “Teachers play an important role in the lives of our children, and I’m pleased we take time to honor those who have chosen to enter the teaching profession.”
