Houston, TX - Congressman Gene Green (D-TX) invites all high school students in the 29th District to participate in the 2004 Congressional Art Competition. "An Artistic Discovery" is a national art contest for high school students from each Congressional District.
The winner and one parent will receive airfare and hotel accommodations to attend the Award Ceremony in Washington, DC in June 2004. The ceremony will recognize the artistic talents of high school students from across the country. The winning artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol through May 2005, along with artwork from winners in other congressional districts across the country.
“The U.S. Capitol houses one of the finest art collections in the world. "An Artistic Discovery" will give a budding artist in the 29th District a chance to join the ranks of such artists as Constantine Brumidi, Rembrandt Peale, John Trumbull and countless other world-class artists,” said Green. “I would encourage all high school students to participate and express their creativity.”
The suggested theme for this year’s competition is “My Neighborhood.” Forms and additional information may be obtained from each school’s art instructor or by contacting Congressman Green’s office at 281-999-5879. Judging will take place on Wednesday, May 5th.
