Green Sworn in for Sixth Congressional Term

Washington, DC - Houston Rep. Gene Green was sworn in to his sixth termCongressman Green & wife, Helen, with Speaker Hastert as a Member of Congress at a ceremony this afternoon opening the 108th Congress at the U.S. Capitol.  The event was of special significance due to the attendance of Congressman Green’s wife, Helen, who was present for her first swearing-in ceremony in Washington, D.C., since Green’s first swearing-in in 1993.

“I am honored the people of the 29th District have chosen me to represent them for another term,” said Green.  “I’m also especially pleased that my wife Helen was able to join me at the swearing in ceremony for the first time since 1993.

“I will continue to work day and night to address the concerns families wrestle with everyday; preparing for retirement, providing a high-quality education for their kids, and paying the rising costs of prescription drugs,” added Green.   “I am dedicated and committed to winning the war on terrorism, but real security means not only the war on terrorism, but economic, health, education and environmental security for every American.”
