Houston’s Orange Grove Elementary School to Get $31,000 Grant
Houston, TX - Rep. Gene Green (D-Texas) announced a grant to Orange Grove Elementary School from Hewlett-Packard worth $31,000.

The school, part of Aldine Independent School District, will receive five HP Tablet personal computers, five multimedia projectors, five digital cameras, and five HP Officejet All-in-One printers, plus software and other accessories. Teachers will also receive cash stipends.

“Congratulations to Orange Grove Elementary for earning this grant,” Green said. “Their commitment to math and science education is inspiring.”

The school will use the grant to implement a project called Students Tackle Research Involving a Variety of Energies (STRIVE) as part of their math and science classes. The project is expected to comprise 24 lessons on types of energies and their natures, including solar energy, mechanical energy, magnetic energy, and energies and communications.

Orange Grove Elementary has been a public school in Aldine since 1947.
