A Great Day for Texas and Nation Says Congressman Green
Houston, TX – Congressman Gene Green (D-Texas) today issued the following statement today congratulating Congressman Silvestre Reyes of Texas for his appointment to Chair the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence:

“Today’s decision from Speaker-Elect Nancy Pelosi on appointing Congressman Silvestre Reyes to Chair the Intelligence Committee is a great day for Texas and a great day for the Nation,” said Congressman Gene Green.  “I would like to congratulate my good friend for his dedication to the security of our nation.

“Silvestre has served our Nation in Vietnam and as a U.S. Border Patrol agent with INS, where he developed numerous initiatives to better patrol our borders, such as ‘Hold the Line,” which is still used today.  Silvestre has continued his service to the people of El Paso, Texas and the Nation as a Member of Congress.

“I commend Speaker-Elect Nancy Pelosi for her decision.  She could not have picked a better person for the job.  I know Silvestre is prepared to do the job the American people expect us to do in protecting our Nation, and I know he will continue to serve the people of this great Nation with honor and wisdom.”
