Washington, DC - Today, Congressman Gene Green (D-Houston) released the following statement regarding the tragedy of the loss of the Space Shuttle Columbia and its seven crew members:
“I join my Houston-area colleagues in expressing our deepest sympathies to all those that have been affected by the terrible events of today. The loss of life is tragic and we should keep the families of the seven Astronauts in our thoughts and prayers.”
“I commit to forwarding the investigation and to work to provide whatever resources NASA may need to find out the cause of this accident and to ensure that it never happens again.”
“We have suffered a deep loss today, but NASA’s manned space program will and must move forward. The benefits of manned space travel are immense, and we should honor the memory of these brave men and women by continuing safe manned space travel.”
