Small companies and local development groups need federal financing programs to keep expanding.
That's the message delivered to the Small Business Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives Wednesday, as the group's chairwoman held a field hearing here.
The financing programs include New Market Tax Credits that help bring in other private investors, and the Small Business Administration's 504 loan program that provides fixed-rate loans for business owners. Both are up for renewal in the next several years, said committee chairwoman Nydia Velazquez, D-N.Y., who conducted the hearing along with ranking minority member Steve Chabot, R-Cincinnati.
