Cincinnati, OH -- Congressman Steve Chabot (R-Westwood) has nominated 20 local students to attend military service academies next fall. The nominations are to the United States Military Academy (USMA), U.S. Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, and the Merchant Marine Academy. Prospective students must be nominated by their Congressman, Senator, or the Vice President of the United States in order to attend a service academy. The individual academies rank the nominees and offer an appointment to the individuals they select as qualified candidates.

Each spring, Congressman Chabot hosts a Military Academy Night for local high school and junior high school students interested in attending a military service academy. The event gives students and parents an opportunity to meet with representatives from all five U.S. military academies: West Point, the Naval Academy, the Air Force Academy, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. At the event, Congressman Chabot and his staff also help familiarize students with the service academy nomination process. This year’s Military Academy Night is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, February 20 at 7:00 p.m. at Northwest High School.
