Washington, D.C. -- Congressman Steve Chabot (R-Cincinnati) released the following statement regarding Army Staff Sergeant Matt Maupin of Batavia who was captured in Iraq nearly four years ago by insurgents and had been listed as "missing in action" until his remains were recently discovered and identified:
“I know the thoughts and prayers of all Cincinnati residents are with the Maupin family during this difficult time. While none of us can comprehend what the Maupin’s have been through over the last four years, we all sympathize with the family over their enormous sacrifice.
“I am inspired by the courage and strength of the Maupin family. Their unwavering commitment to their son Matt, and their continued efforts to support our men and women in uniform personifies the true spirit of the American people.
“I also commend the military for working with the Maupin family to find Matt and bring him home to his family and loved ones.”
