Chabot Honors Local Congressional Art Competition Winner
May 20, 2008

Cincinnati, OH -- Congressman Steve Chabot (R-Cincinnati) yesterday honored Sarah Reed of Sayler Park for winning the Congressional Art Competition for the First District of Ohio.  Ms. Reed, a graduating senior from Gilbert A. Dater High School, won the competition with her digital graphic design entitled “Blocks.”

“I would like to congratulate Sarah Reed and all the students who participated in the Congressional Art Competition this year,” Chabot stated.  “Sarah is a talented artist and I look forward to seeing her work displayed in Washington.”

Ms. Reed’s winning entry will be displayed for the next year in a busy pedestrian corridor that leads to the U.S. Capitol.  She will also be invited to a ribbon-cutting ceremony to be held in Washington, D.C. on June 25, 2008 where the winners of similar competitions from congressional districts across the country will be recognized.

The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents. Since then, over 650,000 high school students have been involved with the nationwide competition.
