Congressman Chabot Commends The First District of Ohio's Blue Ribbon Schools
February 11, 2008

Washington, D.C. -- Congressman Steve Chabot (R-Cincinnati) recently recognized four Cincinnati-area schools for achieving test results in the top 10 percent of the state of Ohio. In a speech on the floor of the House of Representatives, Chabot congratulated the students and teachers of Elm Avenue Elementary School, Hilltop Primary School, Our Lady of Visitation, and St. James School in White Oak. These school were all named 2007 Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education.

Below is the full text of Congressman Chabot's remarks on the House floor:

“Madam Speaker, everybody knows that the key to America's future is providing an excellent education for our children. As a former schoolteacher myself, it gives me great pleasure to recognize four schools from my congressional district, Ohio's First, which have truly lived up to this commitment. Elm Avenue Elementary School, Hilltop Primary School, Our Lady of Visitation, and St. James School in White Oak have recently been named 2007 Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence.

In the photo, Congressman Chabot presents Principal Bob Carovillano with a flag flown over the U.S. Capitol and a copy of the speech Chabot gave on the House floor recognizing Elm and Hilltop Primary Schools as national Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence.  Both schools are a part of the Wyoming City School District.

“Achieving test results in the top 10 percent of the State is truly an accomplishment. These national designations are testaments to the hard work and dedication of the teachers, administrators, parents, and, last but not least, the students of these superior academic institutions.

“I would like to congratulate all of these communities on their success. They are to be commended for serving as models of American educational achievement. This is the future of America. And if this is our future, America's future is bright.”
