(Washington, D.C) U.S. Congressman Sam Graves passed a House Resolution yesterday, recognizing teacher appreciation week.
“Education and knowledge are the foundation of America’s current and future strength,” Graves said. “Teachers and other educators serve their students and communities and deserve to be recognized for their selfless dedication to community service and the future of our children.”
National Teacher Appreciation Week is designed to provide a means for students, parents and entire communities to come together and participate in events and activities that show their appreciation for teachers.
“There are other jobs with much better pay, shorter hours and, often times, less hassle than teaching,” Graves said. “However, each year thousands of college graduates choose teaching as a profession, in no small part as the result of a personal experience they had with one of their own teachers. I thank them for their service to our children and our nation.”
The resolution, H.R.1130, was passed on a voice vote.
