Lincoln, Pryor, Snyder Announce $445,500 for Central Arkansas Transit Authority

Washington, DC – U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor along with Representative Vic Snyder announced today that the Central Arkansas Transit Authority has been awarded a $445,500 grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to upgrade the River Rail Trolley Barn in North Little Rock.  The barn will be expanded to provide security and maintenance for two new streetcars purchased as part of the second phase of the River Rail expansion.

"Visitors to Central Arkansas from across the state and nation enjoy riding the River Rail system, and it has been a positive addition to downtown Little Rock and North Little Rock," said Lincoln. "These funds will help maintain the system’s streetcars and keep them in good condition, allowing visitors to continue to enjoy this popular attraction for years to come."

"River Rail is a one of a kind way to explore the sights and sounds of downtown Little Rock," said Pryor.  "This investment will ensure the security and maintenance of our streetcars and foster further economic development."

"The River Rail Trolley provides a good way to visit the sights along the River Market areas in Little Rock and North Little Rock," said Congressman Snyder. "With this funding, CATA will be able to continue to enhance the streetcar experience for passengers."
