Congress spent this past week on recess, and much of the area delegation used the time away from Washington to attend the Tennessee Valley Corridor Summit in Kingsport, Tenn., Tuesday and Wednesday.

The summit, which brought together more than 500 officials and leaders in science, technology, government, business, education and economic development from four states, focused on homeland security, health care and energy.

It included speeches and sessions hosted by Rep. Zach Wamp, R-Tenn.; Rep.
Lincoln Davis, D-Tenn.; Rep. Bud Cramer, D-Ala.; and Sens. Lamar Alexander and Bob Corker, both R-Tenn.

“There are many exciting things happening throughout the corridor, and we look forward to continuing the collaboration among key corridor institutions, organizations, businesses and elected leaders to push for even more new hightech job creation here in the valley,” Rep. Davis said.
