MYRICK ANNOUNCES FUNDING FOR GASTON COUNTY

(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Representative Sue Myrick (NC-9) today announced  $100,000 to help expand the Gaston County Technology Park, and $100,000 to establish a revolving loan for investment in downtown Gastonia.  The funding comes from HR 4818, the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2005.

“I requested this funding because it will allow us to become more attractive to new businesses.  We have been working very hard to help bring jobs back to our area, and this is another step in the right direction.  We will continue to help Gaston County get the tools and funding they need to create jobs,” said Myrick.

The $100,000 dollars for the industrial park will help the county purchase additional land for the park, and will enable the county to install utilities to create “ready-to-go” sites that draw new companies to the area.

The other $100,000 will establish a revolving loan fund for downtown Gastonia development.  This funding is expected to be matched by local dollars and will provide a “gap financing” to supplement bank loans to developers and investors interested in rehabilitating downtown buildings.
