REP. MYRICK VOTES TO PROTECT THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE FROM ACTIVIST JUDGES

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, US Representative Sue Myrick (NC-9) voted for H.Con. Res. 245.  This resolution expresses the sense of Congress that the United States Supreme Court should speedily find the use of the Pledge of Allegiance in schools to be consistent with the Constitution of the United States. This resolution was introduced and passed today after the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals found it unconstitutional to include the Pledge in public school exercises.

“One of the goals of our schools is to make our children better citizens,” said Rep. Myrick.  “Reciting the pledge of allegiance gives children civic virtue and pride in America.  I’m tired of activist judges who use no common sense.  How can it be unconstitutional to pledge allegiance to our country?”

H.Con. Res. 245 passed the House by a vote of 383 to 31, with 8 voting present.
