(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Rep. Sue Myrick (NC-9) today announced Mineral Springs Volunteer Fire & Rescue has been awarded a $19,950 grant from the Department of Homeland Security under the Assistance for Firefighters Grant Program. The funding will be used for Fire Operations and Firefighter Safety Programs, which include: training, wellness and fitness, firefighting equipment, personal protective equipment, and modifications to fire stations and facilities. The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFGP) awards one-year grants directly to fire departments to support the nation's firefighters and the services they deliver. The Department of Homeland Security’s Office for Domestic Preparedness (ODP) administers the program, in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration.
