REP. MYRICK TO HOST PRESCRIPTION DRUG CARD MEETING

CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER OF MEDICARE TO ATTEND

(Washington, D.C.) – On June 1, 2004, US Representative Sue Myrick (NC-9) will be holding a senior town hall meeting at the Charlotte Senior Center to explain the new Medicare Prescription Drug Program.  June 1, 2004 marks the date that seniors can begin using the new prescription drug cards, giving them a discount on their prescription drugs.

A Discount Drug Card information fair will take place prior to the meeting at 9:00am until 10:00am.  The fair will allow seniors to gain information directly from a variety of companies offering the new drug cards.  The town hall meeting will be held from 10:00am until 11:30am.

Rep. Myrick will open the meeting and will then turn it over to a special guest, Leslie Norwalk.  Ms. Norwalk is the Acting Deputy Administrator and Chief Operating Officer of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which will implement the new Prescription Drug Plan nationwide.  Rep. Myrick and Ms. Norwalk will tell the seniors what the new program means for them, how they can sign up, and will be answering questions.

Seniors who want to attend should RSVP by calling Rep. Myrick’s Charlotte office at 704-362-1060.
