Department of Defense Funding Bill Signed into Law
Renzi supported this bill which will fund defense projects in Prescott and Camp Verde  

WASHINGTON, D.C) - Today, U.S. Rep. Rick Renzi (AZ-1) applauded President Bush for his signature on H.R. 3222, the Department of Defense Appropriations Act.

Last week, with the support of Congressman Renzi, the House passed this legislation authorizing annual funding for vital defense programs. This legislation was signed into law by President Bush yesterday.

Passed in the House with strong bipartisan support, this bill provides a total of $459.6 billion for U.S. Department of Defense programs for FY 2008.

Congressman Renzi successfully secured federal funding in this bill for important defense projects in rural Arizona. Night Vision Systems in Prescott and Quintus Inc. in Camp Verde will receive federal funds through this legislation.

“Yesterday the President signed legislation that will fund two very important defense projects in Yavapai County,” said Congressman Renzi. “These projects will provide resources that the Department of Defense relies on to successfully carry out our national security missions.” 

Night Vision Systems will receive as much as $1.6 million to manufacture night vision scopes used by the National Guard Counterdrug Program. These MX-2A night vision scopes provide the needed ground-based and airborne surveillance tools, which are critical for the National Guard Counterdrug Program to execute successful operations.

Quintus Inc. will receive a portion of $3.6 million to help produce a crashworthy, self sealing internal auxiliary 194 gallon fuel system developed for UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters operated by the Army National Guard. The fuel system provides these helicopters with added flexibility and range capabilities for combat, disaster relief, wildfire operations, and border security.
