Military Academy Appointments
Congressman Shimkus with 2003 West Point cadets
Our office can help you start a career with the Army, Navy, Air Force or Merchant Marines. Each year, Rep. Shimkus nominates a select group of high school students from the Nineteenth Congressional District for admission into the service academies. Nominations are made on a non-political, competitive basis. If you are interested in applying, please submit your information online or contact one of our offices.
Internship Programs
The Congressional Internship Program in Congressman Shimkus' offices is an excellent opportunity to learn about the federal government and public policy issues while spending a summer or semester dedicated to public service. Page Program
Pages are high school juniors who are hired by the House of Representatives to live, work, and study in Washington, DC. All Page candidates must be nominated by a Member of Congress through their appropriate leadership office. The Page school, hold classes in the mornings and is actually located in the Library of Congress. Read more...
