I understand that e-mailing me may be a cumbersome process, but I would like to explain my reasoning for using an Internet-based e-mail system:

I experimented with a public e-mail system, which for a while, accommodated both my constituents and the demands on my staff time. However, starting with the events of the Clinton impeachment hearings, the number of e-mails my office received daily from throughout the world increased to close to a thousand. My first priority is to serve the people of Minnesota's 8^th district. Searching for messages from constituents became labor-intensive, and, more importantly, some of my constituents' messages were inadvertently missed, which forced me to make the decision to select an e-mail system that would allow me to receive constituent e-mails exclusively.
