Resources for Small Businesses

 

There are many resources available to help small business owners succeed.  As the Chairwoman of the House Small Business Committee, Congresswoman Velazquez is always looking to improve services for small firms and ensure that federal programs are open and accessible. 

Despite the existing programs, small business owners often do not know where to turn for help.  Below are links to federal, state and local agencies that provide information and tools for current small business owners and those who are looking to start their own enterprises.

Federal Resources:

• Department of Defense’s Office of Small Business Programs
• Department of Treasury’s Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization
• FedBizOpps is the point-of-entry for Federal government procurement opportunities over $25,000. Government buyers publicize their business opportunities on this website, and commercial vendors can search, monitor and retrieve opportunities solicited by the entire federal contracting community.
• STAT-USA was created by the U.S. Department of Commerce's Economics and Statistics Administration to provide economic, business and international trade information that entrepreneurs can use to make informed decisions.

• Womenbiz.gov is a vital resource for women-owned businesses selling to the federal government.

Resources for Veterans, National Guard and Reserve members

• Small Business Administration’s Office of Veteran Business Development offers assistance for small business owners who are veterans, National Guard or Reserve members, and  small businesses that employ National Guard or Reserve members called up to active duty.
