Fred is currently the third most senior Republican on the House Committee on Energy & Commerce – the oldest standing legislative House committee in Congress.
The Energy & Commerce Committee has arguably the broadest non tax-oriented jurisdiction of any congressional committee, with principal House responsibility over matters relating to commerce, public health and marketplace interests.
Fred currently serves as the Ranking Republican on the Subcommittee on Energy and Air Quality and is a senior member of the Subcommittee on Telecommunications, which Fred chaired for six years from 2001 though 2006.
