VA Mileage Reimbursement Increase Takes Effect : Hoosier veterans now getting 41.5 cents per mile reimbursement for travel to VA health centers

Deadline to Register for FEMA Assistance Nears: Hill Reminds Affected Constituents to Apply Before Nov. 24

(Washington, DC) - Congressman Baron Hill wants to ensure applicable Southern Indiana residents affected by the severe storms and flooding of September 12th through October 6th apply for FEMA assistance before the upcoming deadline of Monday, November 24, 2008.  Fourteen counties in Indiana’s Ninth Congressional District were included in the disaster declaration, thus qualifying those residents for possible FEMA assistance: Clark, Crawford, Dearborn, Floyd, Harrison, Jackson, Jefferson, Jennings, Ohio, Orange, Perry, Scott, Spencer and Washington.  FEMA Individual Assistance includes grants to help pay for temporary housing, home repairs and other serious disaster-related expenses such as medical care and damage to personal property. ... view more

USDA Announces $13 million in Funding for Damaged Hoosier Farmlands Farmers with land damaged by natural disasters in 2008 may be eligible

(Washington, DC) - The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has made $13,013,000 available to farmers and ranchers in Indiana to remove debris, restore fences, and repair conservation structures which may have been damaged by flooding or natural disasters.  The Emergency Conservation Program (ECP) funding was allocated in H.R. 2642, the Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2008, which Congressman Baron Hill supported.  In August 2008, the USDA had made $10 million in ECP funding available to Hoosier farmers for damage from flooding.  ... view more

Hill Reminds Hoosiers to Register for the Indiana Do-Not-Call List

(Washington, DC) - Congressman Baron Hill encourages Hoosiers to register with the Indiana Do-Not-Call List to prevent telemarketing calls.  The Indiana Do-Not-Call List registration ends on Tuesday, November 18, at 11:59 p.m. (EST).  If Hoosiers register before the deadline, the benefits of the law will start on January 1, 2009.  ... view more
