Congresswoman Gwen Moore’s Statement on the Death of Longtime Milwaukee Community Activist Jeanetta Robinson

WASHINGTON, DC- Today Congresswoman Gwen Moore released the following statement regarding the death of longtime Milwaukee community activist Jeanetta Robinson.

“Last night Milwaukee lost a true champion of the people and last night my family lost a true friend.  Jeanetta Robinson fought for her community even until her death and she will truly be missed.”

“I have known Jeanetta all my life.  As a child attending Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, she was my Sunday school teacher and years later my boss.  There is a saying, ‘love without action is ineffective and action without love is irrelevant.’  Her thing was love in action and she was the embodiment of love in action.”

“She was the first African-American to ever work at Woolworth’s in the City of Milwaukee and once my sister asked her how she got the job.  And Jeanette being the person that she was told my sister how to apply and what exactly to do to get the same job.  But that is who she was.  Love in action.”

“She always had a great sense of humor but above all else she was a compassionate person and she died working for the people.”
