We're Here to Help

Many constituents are concerned because they have planned a trip outside the U.S., but have not yet received their passport, despite submitting the paperwork months ago in many cases.

As I have said, this Administration made a huge blunder when it demanded passports be required even for travel to neighbors like Canada and Mexico without planning how to adequately and effectively handle the surge in requests that such an order would produce.

Today, we are receiving a significant number of phone calls from people who are very worried because they have not received a passport and cannot get through to the agency.

My team in the 7th Congressional District office in Seattle is experienced and we're here to help you solve this problem. To expedite the process, I have asked my staff to prepare a primer of what you should do before you call the office. We'll get through this, together.

Rep. Jim McDermott

IF YOU HAVE PROOF OF DEPARTURE WITHIN TWO WEEKS, GO DIRECTLY TO:
Seattle Passport Agency
Henry M. Jackson Federal Building
915 Second Avenue, Suite 992
Seattle, WA 98174
Counter hours: 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Monday - Friday

The Passport Agency will see people whose departure date is within two weeks, OR if they need to apply for a foreign visa. The Passport Agency can either check the status of the pending application, or they may be able to execute a replacement passport. Be prepared to bring supporting documentation and photos when going to the Passport Agency.

If you are not leaving within two weeks, or if you prefer to make an appointment, the phone number to call is 1-877-487-2778. Please be advised that it can be difficult to get through.

If you need extra assistance, mail or fax a letter to Rita Stewart in the Seattle 7th Congressional District Office BEFORE calling.

Rita Stewart, Constituent Liaison
Congressman Jim McDermott
1809 7th Avenue, Suite 1212
Seattle, Washington 98101
Fax: (206) 553-7175

Make sure to include the following in your letter:

• Full name of applicant (as it appears on the application)
• Date of birth
• Date you applied for the passport
• Date of departure, or if you need to apply for a foreign visa
• Locator number, if available
• Contact information including your home address, telephone number, and email address
