DEFENSE DEPARTMENT RESPONSE TO REP. STARK'S 5/16 LETTER
Responding to Representative Pete Stark's letter inquiring about the presence of military officers in the gallery of the House of Representatives, officials from the Office of Army Legislative Affairs have informed Rep. Stark that the individuals in uniform were a class from the Army War College. The last portion of the class is to come to Capitol Hill and see how Congress works.
"I appreciate the swift response," said Rep. Stark. "However, if these officers were hoping for a lesson in how Congress ought to work, then perhaps the Iraq supplemental wasn't the best debate for them to witness."
