STARK CELEBRATES PASSAGE OF THE CHILDREN’S HEALTH AND MEDICARE PROTECTION ACT
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Representative Pete Stark (D-CA), Chairman of the Ways and Means Health Subcommittee, today celebrated passage of the Children's Health and Medicare Protection (CHAMP) Act by making the following remarks. The House of Representatives today passed the CHAMP Act (H.R. 3162) by a 225 to 204 margin.
“The richest nation on earth should guarantee quality health care for all of its people – especially its children and its seniors,” said Stark. “The Children’s Health and Medicare Protection Act takes significant and important steps toward this goal. Today’s legislation is a huge victory for the 11 million kids for whom it will provide health care and the 43 million seniors whose Medicare benefits it will improve. I urge President Bush to sign the CHAMP Act and join with Congress to improve America’s broken health care system.”
