      Payne And Pascrell Announce New Grant For Montclair Fire Department
      - Washington -- Rep. Donald Payne (D-NJ,10th)  and Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ, 8th) today announced that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has awarded the Montclair Fire Department a new federal FIRE grant in the amount of $50,310.  The funding came from the Operations and Firefighter Safety Program, which includes funds for training, equipment, personnel, protective equipment, wellness and fitness, or modifications to fire stations and facilities.  Specifically, this grant will help fund equipment and training to perform trench rescues. MORE

      Payne And Pascrell Deliver $1.2 Million In Federal Funding For Rahway River Corridor Bike/pedestrian Path In South Orange
      - SOUTH ORANGE --- U.S. Reps. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-08) and Donald Payne (D-NJ-10) today lauded inclusion of $1.2 million for the South Orange Rahway River Corridor Greenway Project in the federal transportation spending bill.  Passed by the House and Senate on July 29, 2005, the legislation renews federal funds for highway and transit programs designed to replace the expiring transportation and infrastructure programs.  President George W. Bush signed the legislation on Wednesday, August 10, 2005.MORE

      Payne Announces U.S. Department of Transportation Grant for Newark Liberty International Airport Access Road
      - Tenth District Congressman Payne announced today that the 10th Congressional district has received a $ 1.8 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to improve a Newark Liberty International Airport access road.   The Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration agency is awarding the grant to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.  The grant will be used for the first phase of repairing Brewster Road, which serves as an access road for Newark Liberty International Airport.   Payne said, “This funding will allow us to build on the progress we have made to date.  I will continue to work with the Department of Transportation to ensure that our roads are improved and maintained.”MORE

      - In response to the Bush Administration’s attempt to turn over the operation of six major U.S. ports – including the Port of New York and New Jersey - to a company owned by the United Arab Emirates, Tenth District Congressman Donald Payne recently held two Town Hall meetings on the issue of port security.  During the forums, which were took place in Elizabeth, New Jersey and Montclair on March 22nd and 23rd , Congressman Payne solicited opinions from his constituents and answered questions about the Bush Administration’s secretive port deal.
