Presidential Inauguration - January 20, 2009

Thank you for contacting my office about tickets for the Presidential Inauguration ceremony on January 20, 2009. Due to the historic nature of this Inauguration, we are receiving an unprecedented number of ticket requests.

Although our office will not be able to honor ALL requests -- due to limited capacity -- we will do our very best to accommodate as many requests as possible; however priority preference will be given to residents of New Jersey’s Tenth Congressional District.

1. When is the Presidential Inauguration?

The President and Vice President will be sworn in at noon on January 20, 2009.

2. How do I get tickets to the Inauguration?

If you are a resident of New Jersey’s 10th Congressional District, please CLICK HERE to request inauguration tickets.

3. What if I am not a constituent of the 10th Congressional District?

You should contact your local Representative in Congress.

4. Is there a charge for Inauguration tickets?

No, tickets are provided free of charge.

NOTE: No website or other ticket outlet actually has inaugural swearing in tickets to sell, regardless of what they may claim. Tickets will not be distributed to Congressional offices until the week before the inauguration and will require in person pickup.

5. How many tickets may I request?

At this time we ask that you limit your request to two people.

6. When will I receive my tickets?

Tickets will be distributed in early January to our office and we will notify you shortly afterwards. You must then pick up the tickets, in person, from our Washington DC office (2209 Rayburn House Office Building, Washington, DC 20515).

7. How do I get tickets to the inaugural balls?

The Presidential Inaugural Committee is responsible for the balls and galas. Our office is not involved in the distribution of tickets for these events. General inauguration information is available at: http://inaugural.senate.gov/

8. My high school would like to march in the inaugural parade. How may I find out more information?

Requests to participate in Inauguration Day events for marching bands and other performers are collected by the Armed Forces Inaugural Committee. The Presidential Inaugural Committee will select participants from the collected requests. Further information and an application to participate may be found at http://www.jfhqncr.northcom.mil/afic/

9. How do I get to the inauguration and parade?

Parking will be severely limited on Inauguration Day. Visitors are strongly encouraged to take public transportation. For information, visit http://www.wmata.com

10. Can I also reserve a U.S. Capitol tour?

Normally, our office is happy to give constituents a tour of the Capitol. Unfortunately, public tours of the Capitol Building are suspended from 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 16 through Wednesday, January 21, 2009.

11. What will the weather be like in Washington, D.C.?

January is historically cold and wet. Prepare for temperatures below freezing. Crowds will be large and you will likely be outside for several hours.
