DELAHUNT TO ATTEND VA OPEN HOUSE IN HYANNIS WEDNESDAY
Outpatient Veterans Clinic Expands and Opens At New Stevens Street Location
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Bill Delahunt will be in Hyannis this Wednesday to attend the official reopening of the Department of Veterans Affairs Community-Based Outpatient Clinic from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

“As we look to celebrate Thanksgiving this week, the reopening of this new and larger clinic is an opportunity for us to once again give thanks to all veterans for their service to our country,” said Delahunt. “Since its establishment over a decade ago, the clinic has become a fixture in the community and its staff has provided essential primary and preventative care services. I want to encourage local residents and veterans to join us and representatives from the Veterans Administration this Wednesday and tour these new facilities.”

The clinic is now located at 233 Stevens Street in Hyannis, Massachusetts.

Delahunt secured Congressional support for the establishment of the Hyannis based clinic approximately ten years ago. The final decision came after years of grassroots lobbying from local veterans leaders and the Cape’s veterans service officers.  This newly remodeled facility provides comprehensive primary health care to veterans residing on Cape Cod and the Islands.  Other services that are available include full-time mental health services that include a social worker, psychiatrist, and psychologist that provide psychosocial evaluations, individual, group, and family counseling, substance abuse counseling, and HIV pre- and post- testing counseling.  Nutritional counseling and teleretinal services are also available.
