Congressman Doggett at Fayette County Reach Out and Read Program
In the area for the Schulenburg Fest and meeting with SWIFT Americorps members, I had the chance to read with local children at the Reach Out and Read program and to meet with the doctors and parents who are involved in providing books to children at their regular visits to the pediatrician. Keeping children healthy requires more than vaccines and vitamins; together we can promote healthy learning by sharing our love of reading with our children.

Congressman Doggett at the 2007 Chisholm Parade
The Annual Chisholm Trail Roundup in Lockhart is one of many community festivals in the district. At these events, I often host community office hours that enable me to meet one-on-one with local residents and listen to their concerns.

Veterans Day at the Texas State Capitol
Every year, I speak at Veterans Day events, such as this ceremony at the Texas State Capitol. In the foreground is a replica of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. I support fully funding veterans’ health care, so that those who served do not have to endure long waiting lists to get the benefits they have earned.
