Area School Receives Science Award
Rep. Dicks meets with representatives from Key Peninsula Middle School in Lakebay, who were in the Nation’s Capital on Sept. 8th to receive a “Schools of Distinction” Award as part of a nationwide math and science competition sponsored by the Intel Corporation. Schools receiving the awards, which consist of $10,000 in addition products and services from competition sponsors, are commended for developing an environment and curricula that meet or exceed national mathematics and science content standards and other benchmarks.
Key Peninsula Middle School was one of six schools named as “Star Innovators" and qualifying for an additional grant of $15,000 grant from the Intel Foundation. These schools were honored for their innovative and effective use of technology, parent and community engagement, professional development and teamwork, and consistent achievement of high academic standards.
