Overview
The cities bordering Lake St. Clair in Michigan are fondly referred to as "The Grosse Pointes." The five Grosse Pointes are some of the most prestigious communities in the United States. The five Grosse Pointes consist of the following cities: Grosse Pointe, Grosse Pointe Park, Grosse Pointe Farms, Grosse Pointe Woods, and Grosse Pointe Shores. The Pointes are directly tided to the birth of the auto industry, because the owner and inventors of the American automobile, such as Henry Ford, chose the Pointes as their home.
Harper Woods is a suburb located northeast of Detroit, Michigan and borders the cities of Grosse Pointe Woods, St. Clair Shores and Eastpointe. Today, Harper Woods is a quiet residential area with modest yet high quality homes, perfect for raising families and is known locally for its little league baseball teams.

Overview
Located in southeastern Michigan, Detroit is the largest city in Michigan and the 10th largest city in the United States. Founded in 1701, it was originally named "Ville de 'Etroit" or "City of the Strait" because of its position on the Detroit River. Some fondly refer to it as the "Motor City," as it is internationally known for its automobile manufacturing and trade.
Detroit still ranks high in the production of machine and tool accessories, metal fabricating, and plating. The city is also a gateway to Canada by way of a railroad tunnel, the Ambassador Bridge or the Detroit/Windsor Tunnel, which was the world's first auto traffic tunnel between two nations. From the invention of Henry Ford’s assembly line that started the nation rolling, to the remarkable birth of the Motown sound and its reverberating effect on 20th century pop culture, Detroit has played a significant role in shaping American culture as we know it today.
