Rehberg Stresses Glacier’s Priorities in Meeting with New Park Superintendent
WASHINGTON D.C. - Montana's Congressman, Denny Rehberg, today in a meeting with Chas Cartwright, the new superintendent of Glacier National Park, stressed his ongoing concerns over several issues important to the Glacier community.

“In a park of Glacier’s size, there’s a wide array of issues that are constantly on the table,” said Rehberg, a member of House Appropriations Committee.  “In Washington, I’m working on the federal level to address those needs but it’s critical to ensure a level of cooperation between Mr. Cartwright and myself.  That way we can provide the best deal for Montana.”

During the meeting, Rehberg discussed the Going-to-the-Sun Road, stressing the need to maintain the road due to its rich history and importance to Glacier’s tourism.  He also mentioned the growing concerns regarding energy development on the U.S.-Canadian border.

“When you combine thousands of acres of federal land, an international border, harsh winters, and pristine wilderness, you’re bound to have a lot on your plate,” said Rehberg.  “Today’s meeting set the groundwork of where I hope Chas and I can work to protect the integrity of Glacier’s natural resources and provide a strong tourism industry long into the future.
