If you have a problem of a personal nature relating to a federal program,
such as Social Security, Veterans benefits, or immigration, please write or
call the N.J.
District Office nearest you. I will do my best to solve your problem.
If you are unsure which office is closest to you, simply call one of the offices
for advice.
As a first step in resolving your problem, it is important that you write
a letter to me requesting my assistance. This authorizes me to make inquiries
on your behalf. Congressional Inquiry Authorization forms are available in
my offices if you prefer to fill out a form rather than write a letter.
Include in your communication all the pertinent details related to your problem.
Type or write clearly and sign the letter. Mail the letter or bring it in personally
to my local office. Do not use e-mail to contact me on casework.
It is important that you live within my district. If you are not sure if you

Dealing with federal agencies is a slow, detailed process and sometimes it
takes longer than I would like. However, please know that I will do all in
my power to resolve your problem as quickly as possible.
