Inslee's Scoop On Cool Careers
1 May 2004
This past May, U.S. Rep. Jay Inslee hosted the 2004 Scoop on Cool Careers event, at which kids met local women with cool jobs, enjoyed ice cream, and learned what they can do in school now to prepare themselves for their future dream career. Successful women from the Puget Sound region showed kids exciting aspects of their jobs in: public service, high-tech, the arts, health, justice, science, and other fields. Youths got their passport stamped at each stop, and took home information on how to prepare for the job of their dreams. As seen here, Inslee (right) talks with Ann Whitney (left of center) and her family about the different career booths.
This year the Scoop on Cool Careers event included booths by Amgen, Boeing, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the National Park Service, the Seattle Aquarium, the Seattle Community College Apparel Design Program, the Washington State Patrol, and many more! Seen here, Inslee (right) speaks with Officer Kimberly Smith of the Redmond Police Department.

Many families, such as the Vasquez family (seen here with Inslee) contributed to the outstanding turnout and interest in the Scoop on Cool Careers event.
