The 16th District

The Sixteenth Congressional District stretches from the far-west suburbs of Philadelphia to the heart of the Amish Country. It includes southern Chester County, all of Lancaster County and a portion of southwest Berks County. It includes three county seats: West Chester, Lancaster, and Reading. Rich in history, our district was the site of Revolutionary War battles and the center of the Underground Railroad. Few places in America can boast of such a variety of cultures, enterprises, and livelihoods. Our original mostly English, Welsh, Scotch-Irish, and German population has been added to by large numbers of Mexicans, Vietnamese, and Puerto Ricans. The best farmland in Pennsylvania is interspersed by steel towns and historic villages. Farming and Old Economy enterprises have been supplemented by several successful high-tech and financial services companies. The Sixteenth Congressional District is a great place to live, work, and worship.
