Iowa’s communities are constantly rated as some of the best places to live in the country, and it’s no surprise, considering the quality of life, low crime rate, rich heritage and variety of industries Iowa has to offer. Even so, it’s particularly concerning that Iowa’s young people are leaving Iowa to work and raise their families. Our solution must be to work with Iowa’s youth to find ways to help them find Iowa’s opportunities.

As a former small business owner in a rural community in Iowa, I know the daily impact the government can have on the lives of Iowans. I believe it’s my job in Congress to focus on issues that will help our rural communities grow. I meet regularly with small business owners who are concerned with the tax and regulatory burdens on small businesses, attracting and retaining quality employees, access to affordable and quality healthcare and improving our transportation infrastructure. On the House Small Business Committee I work to address these issues to find the best ways to promote Iowa’s business and attract new residents.
