2009 Presidential Inauguration Tickets

Presidential Inauguration in front of the United States Capitol BuildingThank you for contacting my office inquiring about the Presidential Inauguration on January 20, 2009.  We are excited to welcome you to our nation’s capital during this historic event.

Tickets to the inauguration will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis.  Although our office will not be able to honor all requests -- due to limited capacity -- we will do our very best to accommodate as many requests as possible.  Please keep in mind that Congressional offices will not find out how many tickets we have to distribute for a few weeks; so we ask you to be patient with us during this process.

Thank you for your interest in attending President-elect Barack Obama’s Inauguration ceremony on January 20, 2009 in Washington, D.C. Our office has experienced a high volume of requests and will therefore not be accepting any more requests for tickets to the inauguration. If you still wish to request tickets for this historic event, we highly recommend that you contact Senators Boxer and Feinstein with the information provided below.

Senator Feinstein:

More information about the inauguration event will be posted at this site as it becomes available.

  • Please note that most tickets are standing room only; and the event will last for many hours.
  • All attendees should dress “metal detector friendly” (i.e. wear as little metal or jewelry as possible).
  • Keep in mind that winters in Washington, D.C. are very cold and San Diegans are advised to wear many layers (including hats, gloves and boots) and bring blankets for the event.
  • In order to purchase tickets for the Inaugural balls, you must contact the sponsoring organization.
  • The Inaugural parade is open to the public; and tickets are not required to attend.
