RAMSTAD APPLAUDS PRESIDENT'S CALL FOR BIPARTISANSHIP

WASHINGTON – Reacting to President Bush’s State of the Union address, U.S. Rep. Jim Ramstad (MN-03) said, “I welcome the President’s call for bipartisanship, as Republicans and Democrats need to find common ground to get things done in Washington.”

“I am pleased the President emphasized the need to expand access to affordable health care,” said Ramstad, a member of the Ways and Means Committee’s Health Subcommittee. “The crisis in our health care system certainly calls for a bipartisan solution.”

“I also applaud the President’s emphasis on expanding the use of renewable and alternative fuels and modernizing fuel efficiency standards,” said Ramstad.

“We need to continue to change the tone in Washington to solve the pressing problems facing our nation, and I am hopeful tonight’s speech advances our efforts to restore bipartisanship and civility,” said Ramstad.
