Roderick R. Meno Recognized as Guam's Firefighter of the Year for 2008

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - November 3, 2008 – Washington, D.C.

Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo on Sunday, November 2nd, presented Fire Service Specialist Roderick R. Meno of the Guam Fire Department a statement printed in the Congressional Record in recognition of him being named Guam’s Firefighter of the Year for 2008.

“The recognition of Roderick as Guam’s Firefighter of the Year for 2008 speaks to his professionalism, skill in the line of duty, and his dedication to the Guam Fire Department.  His recognition also continues his family’s legacy of exceptional public service through the Guam Fire Department,” Congresswoman Bordallo said today. “His father, retired Deputy Fire Chief Frank C. Meno and his brothers, Fire Specialist Frank R. Meno, Fire Captain Kurt R. Meno, Fire Fighter II Brian R. Meno, and his nephew Fire Fighter I Joshua R. Meno all share Roderick’s motivation to serve the public and to protect life and property.  Roderick has never hesitated to better the lives of his fellow firefighters and the working conditions of his precinct.  In particular, this award recognizes his work in renovating his station’s control room and sleeping quarters.  Roderick embodies the dedication of those who serve our community in the ranks of the Guam Fire Department and I commend and congratulate him on his accomplishments.”
